October 2nd Minutes
Fifteen members attended the October 2nd meeting.
We had 2 guests. Mary introduced Sharon R. Sharon just took Marlene's Ripon class and came to finish lashing her basket. She is from Oshkosh. Mary actually met her in Florida as they stay at the same park there during the winter months!
Sue A. , from the Wild Rose area, came with JoAnn. She was at a workshop with JoAnn and has been weaving quite awhile. She brought veggies and dip for us to snack on.
Treasurer's report: $556.14.
Discussed the Oct. 11th workshop. We will meet at Ripon Public Library at 9:15. They don't charge non-profit groups to use the meeting rooms, but we must be sure to put all tables and chairs back where they were before leaving. Can bring own lunch or we can order out. Stephanie and Judy plan on going to Little Caesar's.
Sara has a ruptured disk and can't come, but asked if her daughter could take her place. We OK'd because of the circumstances.
Discussed fee for non-members to take a workshop. Decided $15 was appropriate. Sharon made motion and JoAnn seconded.
Sent sheet around to sign up for JoAnn's holiday basket. -handle size and beads.
Discussed having Eileen from East Troy come for a spring workshop. Everyone seemed to like the idea. Didn't settle on a date or basket. There was interest in the Caned Elegance that Sue brought to show. No one wanted the fretwork basket. Dawn and Marlene had taught that class at one time. We still have time to look over patterns. .
JoAnn and Pat had a number of gourd baskets to show. JoAnn also had extra materials and beads to share. Ann passed out all her remaining gourds. Several members worked on gourds, while others finished up other projects or just enjoyed basket conversations.
Dawn reminded us that we need to vote on officers in January. Perhaps bylaws need to be changed in the future so that the election of officers coincides with the guild year from September to June?.
A good selection of baskets was donated to the church.
Pat, Marlene and JoAnn brought their nature baskets to show.
Thanks to Marlene for taking the minutes!
