October Minutes

President Sue called the meeting to order at 6:05pm.

 

Secretary's Report:  No additions or corrections.

 

Treasurer's Report:  We have $595.29 in our account before paying for the Saturday Weave instructor.  Patti reminded our members to pay their 15.00 dues if they haven't already done so.

 

Old Business:  Our Saturday Weave is Saturday, October 18, at 9:00am at the Church.  We will have the Potato Bar for lunch.  Please remember to bring items to add to the bar.

 

New Business:  For the November basket, X's and O's, JoAnn said we would need 1/2" flat reed in 2 colors.  You will need 17 spokes of each color cut at 37".  She will have spokes cut in smoked reed, please contact her if you want those.  If you need the 10" leather handles and didn't sign up for them be sure to call her soon.  You will also need 1/2" flat in natural for the weavers.

 

Barb Johnson, the owner of a new business called Countryside Basketry Supplies, donated cute little pumpkin basket tie-ons for our members.  Her shop is located at N7255 Olson Road, Iola, WI, 54945, phone number is 1-715-412-1276, website address is www.countrysidebasketrysupplies.com    It sure would be nice to have a supplier in the area!

 

We learned from Geri that you can purchase bags of leather scrap strips from Fleet Farm.  Their mainly used for repairing horse gear but she found another use for them.  They come in varying lengths, most long enough to be useful for baskets.
