Minutes May 1st Meeting

Minutes May 1st

Fourteen members attended the May 1st meeting. Many showed their completed pine plate weavings. Dawn had even made another little pine basket. Marlene reported, after paying the Saturday church rental, instructor Sally Durkee and for two pizzas, we have a balance of $376.14

Under old business Judy reported she had ordered the double slot bases for the Nature Basket. Many members planned to go to Basket Fest.

Focus of new business was filling in the rest of the 2008 program calendar. Members again decided to bring food to the June meeting. Darleen said only 1/2" flat (spokes) and 1/4" flat (weavers) will be needed for the inner basket of the Nature Basket. Exact length of the spokes will be forthcoming.

Ann brought in a huge supply of birdhouse gourds (grown and donated by her brother). Cleaning of the gourds was discussed in preparation for weaving. The club decided to do something with gourds for October. JoAnn agreed to lead a Christmas pattern Darleen found at East Troy in November. December's Snack & Weave will be UFO or finishing the curls from the Christmas basket.

Members then "enjoyed" weaving the Gretchen Border. Thank you Judy for teaching this again.
