Minutes from the December 4th Meeting

Eighteen members and a guest, Colleen, attended the December Snack and Weave. Several members commented on how nice it is when almost everyone is able to attend. Many members had baskets to show; Elizabeth- gourd with antler handle, Marty- little twilled smoked reed basket, JoAnn- woven Christmas Bells, Marlene-little napkin basket and bowed basket and Sue- twilled casserole basket.

Marlene reported the guild's balance at $489.14. Darleen read the minutes from November.

OLD BUSINESS

Darleen contacted Eileen of East Troy Basketry and reported that Eileen would like $65 per student for the Caned Elegance basket. The $65 includes materials. Eileen is available to teach the basket on April 4, 2009. Members decided this was too expensive and gave permission for Darleen to contact Eileen with the news. Members then discussed the possibility of just getting together on a Saturday at the Ripon Library to weave with no leader for a nice day of weaving. JoAnn mentioned after her 'month long marathon of weaving at Gulf Shores' she may have a basket we could do on a Spring Workshop. ( Have fun JoAnn!)

Guild Programs
Programs for the rest of our guild year were discussed and the calendar is now filled.
January - Marlene leading; Marlene's Little Bowed Basket
February - UFO night
March- Dawn leading; Small Cristi
April - Marty leading;
May - Judy leading;
June - Ann leading; Toilet Paper Basket

NEW BUSINESS
Members were reminded that the January meeting will be on January 8th rather than on New Years Day, Jan 1st.

Dawn reminded members that last year we made a donation to the church in December. Judy made the motion to donate $50 to the church in a Christmas Card. Ann 2nd the motion. Motion passed.

The business meeting was adjourned and members then enjoyed all the food. Such nice aromas and what variety. I will post requested recipes on the blog soon.

The border on Holly's Basket was a challenge but thanks to JoAnn's patient guidance most of us were close to getting done. I for one went to sleep still chanting "over two and down"! Thanks JoAnn.

After the meeting
When I got home I had an email from Donna. She carried her reed and food to the car and forgot her basket and tools. At this point, she has contacted the church and hopefully she has it all in her possession again.
