Good Deals on Basket Books

Please Note: Information about Appleton's Half-Price Books has been updated

Those members sitting on the far side of the room at the October 1st guild meeting spent some time admiring Marty's basket book purchases from Half-Price Books in Madison. Half-Price Books is next to East Towne in Madison. I think we could say it is slightly west of East Town on the same side of the street in a strip mall called Essex Square. Use the farthest west exit for East Town. It is located right next to Pier One, which can been seen from East Washington. Donna mentioned there is another store on the West side of Madison by Whitney Way.

So while I was exploring to find you the link, I discovered there is a Half-Price Books in Appleton at Casaloma
Plaza. It is on the same side of the street and just a little north of the Barnes and Nobel store. HERE is the link for all Half-Price Books. Just go to store locator and click on the one in Wisconsin you want to see. There are nice maps for all store locations. If you see a Half-Price Bookstore, force your husband, children and grandchildren to let you stop in.

I mentioned I also found some good deals on alibris
, a website where businesses, libraries and individuals around the county pay a small fee to list their books. Click HERE to see their website. Type in basketry and surprise, you will find some good prices. I see they still have a few copies of Shereen Laplantz's Twill Basketry for $2. 81 at the Goodwill Store in Indianapolis of all places.

alibris
is a wonderful place to find out-of-print books. Several years ago I wanted to buy an out-of-print cookbook as a gift for someone and found a copy listed on the alibris website. The cookbook was at a bookstore in Ashland. Since I wanted it as a gift, I wanted to MAKE SURE it was not all slobbered up like some used cookbooks, so I simply called them up on the phone first. I don't know how else I could have found the book. Amazon didn't even have a copy.

You do have to pay shipping with alibris, BUT I have not found shipping to be that expensive, about $4 or $5.
