Show and Share

Many thanks to all of you who emailed me suggestions on twining with the waxed linen. I got the base done on the bushel basket but it is not perfect.

I am giving these two little baskets as gifts today, so can't bring them to guild for "show and share" The spokes are 1/4" walnut and weavers are 1/8" ash. The little market was just fun and quick to weave. It is about 1 1/2" by 2" by 2" high. I put the nickel in there so you can judge the size.

The bushel basket from the start was a problem. From the waxed linen twined base to tucking the spokes in such a small space to the half round rim-it was just a pain. I must have soaked the 1/8" half round ash rim material for 6 hours and it was still hard to work with. The basket measures about 2" in diameter and 2" high. There is a little glare from the flash but you can see what I mean about twining the base with waxed linen. Miserable.

Remember if any of you have some photos of baskets you have woven please email me. I ran into some trouble before when I had so many photos in the slide show, but I think I know how to fix the problem.
