Weaving with Silver Creek

Silver Creek Basket Guild meets on the 1st Saturday of each month, unless it's a holiday weekend we meet on the 2nd Saturday. September through June at 9:00 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Annual dues are $25

The membership is open to experienced basket weavers
(who understand the terminology, and are able to independently weave a round and a square base).

A little show and tell

I wove a basket as a part of a laundry themed Christmas gift this year and since I had never seen a clothespin basket before, thought you all might want to see it. I found the frame with wooden base at East Troy Basketry. The base is about 6" by 12" and the basket without the frame is about 8" tall. The frame allows the basket to slide along the clothes line as you hang the clothes. There was no pattern. East Troy did have a sample but used round reed as the spokes so that the rim was braided. Some of you may recall how I feel about round reed. Anyway here it is...
