There is an error in the directions for September's braided side basket. After you do the 4 rows of twining, you must do the braiding over the twining. Take your 24 pieces of dyed #3 rr and fold each in half after soaking. Place each dyed piece around a spoke between the 3rd.and 4th rows of twining ( counting from the bottom up) with ends pointing towards you. (from inside of basket to outside.) Clip each piece to hold it in place. When all are in place, holding the basket with spokes pointing towards you, take any one piece and bring it behind 2 to your right and out towards you. Continue around until the last two spokes which you will have to place under the first two pieces like in a "gretchen" border. Pull all pieces tight to remove slack and so that inside looks good.Next place a marker on 2 spokes. Still holding basket with spoke ends towards you, take the left marked piece and lift 2 spokes to the right passing under and thru the space where the 2nd one came thru in the 1st. round. work around the basket loosening the marked pieces for the last two pieces to go thru. Tighten row. Work these last two rows again. Then continue with the rest of the side weaving. To do handle: Fill handle with a length of 3/8 ff for strength or cover it top and bottom with 3/8: F oval. Add colored reed on top and wrap all with 1/4" in the pattern of your choice. Rim basket, fill rims with sea grass and lash.
