Minutes September 2014

September 4, 2014

President Sue A. called our first meeting of the year to order at 6:10.

June's Guild Minutes were approved without any additions or corrections.

Treasurer Patti reported that we have $411.79 in our account.  Dues of $15.00 were collected for the new year.

Dawn W. introduced our new member, Sue Y.  Welcome to our guild!

Old Business:  We discussed our upcoming Saturday Weave which will take place at the church on Saturday, October 18 beginning at 9:00.  It is being led by Sandy Bulgerin and the cost of the gourd basket will be between $30.00 - $35.00.  She will be supplying all the materials for the basket, including already painted/stained gourds.  For lunch Sue suggested having a Baked Potato Bar, she will supply all the baked potatoes.  We will have a sign up sheet for bringing additional items at the October meeting.  If you forgot to sign up for this at the meeting please, call Sue and let her know that you will be attending.  Sandy will need to know how much supplies to bring.

New Business:  Dawn made a suggestion that we might consider donating market style baskets to Old World Wisconsin.  On a recent trip there Dawn struck up a conversation with a docent and had mentioned that she was a member of a weaving guild.  The lady mentioned that the baskets that are used at OWW were beginning to fall apart from daily use.  We might consider donating some to their cause.  Wouldn't it be nice to visit there and see your basket in use!

Ann Z. has volunteered to lead the October's basket called "An Apple a Day."  The basket is a free pattern located on the Bases to Weave website.    Copy and paste this address to see the basket and supply list.        http://basestoweave.com/Html/FreePattShow.asp?PatternID=FRP27  ( Click HERE for the link to the pattern FRP27)

We were reminded that October is the month that we make donations to the church for their annual chili dinner.  The donations can be items or cash.

A number of beautiful baskets were brought in for Show and Tell.

Dawn W. made a motion to adjourn with Barb E. seconding.
