Materials for May 1, 2008 Meeting

Judy agreed to teach a refresher class on the Gretchen Border for our May Meeting. Thus we all have HOMEWORK for May. You should arrive May 1st with the Round Treat Basket woven and spokes all tucked. Also to prepare for our meeting, cut 16 pieces of #2 round, 60" long.

This is the same basket we wove in January of 2006, so you may already have the pattern. But, just in case:

Round Treat Basket

MATERIALS

1/2" FLAT
#2 ROUND
3/16" FLAT OR FLAT-OVAL, DYED
1/4" FLAT

Cut 8 spokes, 23" long from the 1/2" flat
Mark CENTERS on WRONG side
Also MARK 4 of the spokes ONE INCH on each side of the center mark.

Lay the 4 spokes with the extra markings, wrong side up, in the form of an "X" matching the center marks. Begin twining with #2 round at the one-inch marks, make your circle as round as possible. Twine about 7 rows and add in the other 4 spokes, continue twining until you have a 6" circle.

Upset spokes; start-stop weave as follows:

6 rows 1/4" flat oval
3 rows dyed 3/16" flat or flat oval
1 row 1/4" flat oval
3 rows 3/16" flat or flat oval
4 rows 1/4" flat oval

Twine 3 rows around with #2 round.

Tuck ALL spokes.

Cut 16 pieces of #2 round, 60 inches long.
