Weaving with Silver Creek

Silver Creek Basket Guild meets on the 1st Saturday of each month, unless it's a holiday weekend we meet on the 2nd Saturday. September through June at 9:00 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Annual dues are $25

The membership is open to experienced basket weavers
(who understand the terminology, and are able to independently weave a round and a square base).

January 2019 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Krista, President. Attendance was taken and the December 2018 minutes were approved.

OLD BUSINESS
  • March and June still open for basket ideas.
  • Discussion of doing another Easter basket. Karen was going to bring her Easter basket that she made to share with class for ideas.
  • Briefly discussed making basket handles with flat/flat oval reed.
Spring Saturday weave date is May 11, 2019. Will be making Nantucket Nesting Tray. There are three different sizes and you will need to sign up for the size you would like to weave as there are limited number of molds for each size (4). The small is $37, medium is $44, and the large is $50. Please sign up at the next meeting for the size basket you want to make. Krista will check with Shirley Mount, who will be our instructor, about other options, i.e. treasure box. You can check out her patterns/baskets at thebasketpatch.com.

February weave is the Square Heart basket lead by JoAnn. She will bring dyed red reed for class to use.

  • April 2019 Double Rim Storage Basket, Ann Z. leading
  • May 2019 will be making Leather Handle Tote, cost of the handles are $28, Minwax stain dyes the handles well.
  • June 2019 remains open for basket idea, perhaps one of our snowbirds will have an idea upon their return. June is also a Potluck night...yum yum.
