Weaving with Silver Creek

Silver Creek Basket Guild meets on the 1st Saturday of each month, unless it's a holiday weekend we meet on the 2nd Saturday. September through June at 9:00 a.m. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon, Wisconsin.

Annual dues are $25

The membership is open to experienced basket weavers
(who understand the terminology, and are able to independently weave a round and a square base).

June 1, 2017 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order by Krista, President @ 6:10 p.m.
Roll call attendance was taken by Geri, Secretary.
Patti gave the Treasurer’s report.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Krista will hold the realm for another two years as President, and also Geri as Secretary.
Vice President will be Sue, and Denise will be our new Treasurer.

UPCOMING MEETINGS

September – JoAnn will lead us to make a Slim Cane Purse. The guild has purchased the pattern. Contact JoAnn to order the base and strap. Strap comes in brown or black. You will need dyed cane or plain 11/64 or 3/16 and some yarn to be creative. See below and your emails for materials list.

ANNUAL DUES are due at the September meeting. It was voted on to increase our annual dues to $20.

October – Ann will show us how to weave an antler basket. More information at the September meeting.  

Saturday Fall Weave
October 21, 2017 @ 9 a.m. @ church. POTLUCK. Annetta Kraayeveld will be our instructor. The top two baskets were voted on, the cost is $65 for the Twizarr, and $60 for the Wrapped Up kits. You need to sign up with Krista no later than July 1 and send in your payment to her. Checks should be made out to Annetta.
November – Patti & Geri will lead making a Square Footed Storage Basket. The guild will purchase the pattern, but you’ll need feet and handles. More information at September’s meeting.

December – OPEN still looking for ideas ladies…

January 2018 – Dawn will lead in making Easter Baskets.

February 2018 - OPEN

The meeting was adjourned @ 6:27 p.m. a motion was made by JoAnn and Patti seconded the motion. The remainder of the night we ate and Krista showed us some new handle wrapping techniques. Thank you Krista!

SHOW & TELL
Sue showed off her beautiful Match Stick rimmed basket, Carry-All with divider, and Square Tressa w/butterfly knot on the handle and a Josephine knot on the basket. Awesome.

Barb E. showed off her huge Day-in-the-Park and Apple baskets. Outstanding.

Barb J. showed off several baskets: Birch; Patriotic Napkin, Tote, and Tableware baskets. Marvelous.
